The internet is a physical place
Notes to myself on why the buildings, cables, and power behind the internet feel more real to me than the abstractions on top.
We talk about “the cloud” like it’s weather. It isn’t. It’s specific buildings in specific places, drawing specific amounts of power, cooled by specific machines, connected by cables you could physically touch.
The more I learn, the more the abstraction dissolves and the building underneath shows through. I find that grounding. The magic doesn’t go away — it just gets a floor plan.
